J.V. Russell, 70, of South Knoxville passed away on Sunday, October 28, 2018. JV grew up in La Follette, TN, and graduated with honors from LaFollette High School. He was also a graduate of Pellissippi State Community College computer technology program. He retired in 2011 as a computer tech specialist for the Department of Energy in Oak Ridge. He was a proud U.S. Marine who served two tours of duty in Vietnam, as well as other posts. He was a well-decorated staff sergeant who earned three air medals, the cross of gallantry with palm, and many other awards. Preceding him in death were Walter Rose Russell and Mary Elizabeth Russell, grandparents who raised him; Sarah Russell Livingston, his mother; Judy Wilson Russell, first wife. Surviving family include wife, Wanda H. Russell; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Darryl Chapman of Lafollette; son and his fiancé, Robby Richart and Bethany Ott of Karns; grandchildren Amber Russell and Zachary Chapman of Lafollette, and Colin Richart of Karns.
