Campbell County hosts West in a region football game tonight with the winner moving on to the playoffs and the loser likely playing its last game of the season.  That is unless Karns wins over Clinton which sends both CC and West to the postseason regardless of this evening’s outcome. With it being the last regular season game and at home, Campbell hosts Senior Night at Dossett Stadium.  That ceremony takes place prior to the 7:30 pm kick-off.

This is the ninth game in the Campbell-West series that dates back to 1975, the first year of Cougar Football.  West holds a 7 – 1 edge.  Six of the first eight meetings have been decided by seven points or less.  West won last year on its home field by a final of 27-20.  The lone Cougar win in the series was 7 – 0 at West in 1976.

Cougar Head Coach Justin Price says West has relied on its defense the past three or four seasons, and this season is no exception.  The Rebels feature two SEC prospects on the defensive side of the ball in Tyreece Edwards and Drew Francis.  Both are juniors.  Price describes West as a very physical team with speed.

“We’re about as healthy as we’ve been all year,” said Price.  He hinted that fans might even see a more mobile Landon Addington tonight.  Number 6, the CC quarterback, continues seeing improvement in the knee he injured in the Gibbs game last month.  Price feels tonight might be the night he tests it a little further with some designed run plays for the senior.  The coach thinks Landon is back almost where he was before the injury.

West is 3 & 6 in all games while Campbell is 4 & 5.  Each is 2 & 3 in the region.
