It’s been 16 years since the Jacksboro Station Bridge was opened.  On Saturday, it will be officially named for a handful of members of the community.   Former Campbell County Commissioner Gary Lindsay’s original idea of a bridge at Jacksboro Station became a reality and completely changed the area around the structure.  Safer and quicker travel, less inconveniences and a massive nearby subdivision development are just a few of the benefits of the bridge.  That’s not to even mention the property tax revenue generated by the 100+ home neighborhood.

The bridge will be named for Wade Boshears, Dr. Burgin Wood, John and Clayton Wood.  All were cornerstones of the community.  Burgin was cousins to John and Clayton and Burgin was related to Wade through Wade’s wife, Barbara.  All four men are deceased.

The is the crossing the bridge replaced.

Stacey Wood-Heatherly, daughter of Burgin Wood, calls it a way the community is showing respect for her father and the others and describes it as very touching.  She goes on to say that Dr. Wood had such a love for the community and always supported the bridge project.

County Commissioner Rusty Orick calls the men idols and role models to him.  Orick made the motion back in the spring to name the bridge in honor of the men.  It passed unanimously.

Widows Barbara Jean Queener Boshears and Jo (Mrs. Burgin) Wood plan to be on hand for Saturday morning’s 11 am dedication.  The event is open to the public.

Orick said that signage will be posted on each end of the bridge.  A plaque will be added later.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/25/2018-6AM)
