Campbell County Football enters tonight’s game at home with Karns with one answer and a couple of questions.   The answer comes in what had just been rumors for much of the season about a potentially ineligible player playing for the Powell Panthers.  The TSSAA confirmed what many were thinking and talking about with an official letter sent to Powell High School on Wednesday outlining that Powell would be forced to forfeit its six wins.  SEE the letter here.

The decision by the TSSAA gives one region win to Campbell, Karns and Clinton; Region 3 teams that lost games earlier this season to Powell.  The move offers new life to all three teams that up until Wednesday had not won a region game this season.  Halls, Cumberland County and Lenoir City were also awarded wins in their games with Powell this season.

Two questions for Campbell will not be answered until the Cougars go through pre-game warm-ups this evening.  That’s whether or not Christian Shouse and Preston Bowman will be healthy enough to play in tonight’s game against the Karns Beavers.

Christian Shouse, wideout and defensive back, missed the fourth quarter at Powell last week with what was thought to be a concussion.

Campbell has missed Preston Bowman for almost six weeks. This week is the first week he’s been able to practice though it’s been non-contact. He, too, will be evaluated in warm-ups to see if he can return to his flanker and secondary duties.

The Cougars are 2 & 4 in all games with losses through their first two region contests. Karns has struggled to win one game, 48-22 over Scott, though has averaged 25 points per game. The Beavers are 0 & 4 on the road and in region games and have a 1 and 6 record.
