Recent numbers of child abuse are escalating.  That’s according to Tracie Davis.  Davis is the executive director for the Campbell County Children’s Center.    WLAF News caught up with Davis on Friday at the Sporting Clays Tournament at Maryville where she was volunteering with the annual event.  Proceeds from the event benefit the children’s centers of the 8th Judicial District.

Davis notes that there have been approximately 60 forensic interventions through the Campbell County Children’s Center over the past couple of months.  She adds that there have also been six or seven convictions since January.  Davis describes 8th Judicial District Attorney General Jared Effler’s office as being “diligent.”

Aside from caring for children, regular fundraising efforts are also part of what the staff, board and volunteers of the children’s center do.  That’s why Davis calls the clays tourney “awesome and a blessing” saying it originated with Jared.

“It’s a tremendous help financially,” Davis said.  With the escalation of child abuse numbers, it makes fundraising events like Fridays all the more needed. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 10/03/2018-6AM)
