WLAF conducted its first Election ’18 Poll in early June  long before Early Voting began.  Our objective was to use the info on Election Night during WLAF’s preelection coverage comparing it to the poll numbers of a second poll that ended over the weekend. We feel the poll of 510 registered voters gives a fairly accurate snapshot of how voters were leaning before the election season began heating up.  Given that, WLAF did not want to influence the vote prior to Early Voting.  Since there was a record 5,000+ early votes cast, we feel that releasing the poll now will not have the impact on the election it would possibly have had had it been released before Early Voting.

The district-by-district participation is 140 participants in District 1, 104 in District 2, 123 from District 3, 103 out of District 4, and District 5’s participation was 40 voters.  Which means 92.2% of those taking part in the poll are from Districts 1-4.

  1. I personally do not think a poll should be published BEFORE an election. This influences people that have not yet voted. When some people see this, they think there is no reason for them to vote. It is a political ploy to help whoever is taking the poll to help the candidates they have endorsed.

  2. POLL’S ARE GOOD IT TELL’S THE MOOD OF THE VOTERS, AND THE LOSER’S WANT TO CRY FOUL! THAT’S LIFE BABY!

  3. I agree with Mary, the poll SHOULD NOT be released before the polls close regardless of the number of early voters. This is why the national news media do not (or should not) release their projected winners before election polls close.

  4. Releasing polls before the election seems to be unprofessional and tends to sway the election outcome. Who all even knew the poll was being taken? Thursday night will be the real poll.
