The call of a possible murder came in to E-911 around 2:30 pm this afternoon.  Deputies with the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department responded to a home off Old Highway 63 near Judy’s Grocery east of La Follette. Sheriff Robbie Goins tells WLAF that that’s where a husband shot his wife to death.

The sheriff details that the suspect was actually out in the front yard of the house waving a gun around.   Goins adds that the suspect would not respond to any of the officers’ commands.  Shots were exchanged, and the suspect was hit.

A source close to WLAF has just confirmed that the husband died around 4:30 pm this afternoon.

The two officers involved have been placed on administrative leave with pay, which is standard procedure.  Attorney General Jared Effler has requested that the TBI take over the investigation.  (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/25/2018-4:30PM)
