Three people were pronounced dead at the scene in a horrific motor vehicle crash Sunday afternoon on I-75 in Campbell County.  First Responders worked feverishly to save the life of a 10-year old child.  The youngster was trapped inside a van that E-911 Officials say ran up under the back of an 18-wheeler.

Lifestar landed on the scene of the accident on I-75 near Exit 141 (the north Caryville exit).  Firefighters with the Caryville Fire Department cut the boy out of the van.

The southbound van rammed up under the big rig at 5:26 pm Sunday afternoon.  Three others in the van were pronounced dead at the scene.

The 10-year old boy was loaded and flown to a Knoxville hospital.  One crew member on the chopper described the youngster as being “fully alert.”

The south bound lanes of I-75 were reopened just before 10:30 pm Sunday night.(WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/09/2018-6AM)

  1. We were there and we were praying for all of the responders and the family while this was going on. So tragic..

  2. My family and I drove past the scene from the other side of the highway and saw the incident. My heart goes out to the family and the 10 yr old boy. i have a son his age and can’t imagine what he will endure as his life goes on. I pray his strength in the Lord. May God comfort him and may he move past the understanding that his life was saved, while his family went on to glory. Lord please be with this child and keep your loving arms around him.
