One official says it’s a miracle the boy survived.  Late Sunday afternoon, a southbound van on I-75 in Campbell County rammed into the back of an 18-wheeler near Exit 141.  There were four occupants in the van.  The other three were pronounced dead at the scene.  All four were trapped inside the vehicle with the 10-year old boy being extricated and flown to a Knoxville hospital.

At liftoff, one crew member of the med chopper described the boy as being fully alert.

The accident happened at 5:26 pm on Sunday and created a monster traffic jam for southbound travelers with the interstate shutdown for hours (reopening just before 10:30 pm Sunday night).
