On Saturday afternoon, Deputy Tosha Tackett responded to an accident on Cedar Creek Road.

When Tackett arrived, she found a 2013 Subaru Forrester sitting in the side of a large parked RV at a home. The vehicle was driven by Judith Jackson Helton who told Tackett that she must have fallen asleep and that caused her to hit the RV, according to a report from the Campbell County Sheriff’s Department.

The report details that Helton left the road and struck a culvert.  The car then jumped the culvert landing and then traveling approximately 50 yards through the yard of a home, running over a child’s tricycle and stopping when the Subaru hit the side of the RV.

Helton is alleged to have had a strong odor of intoxicating alcoholic beverage, bloodshot and watery eyes. Helton allegedly said that she had four beers before driving.

Helton, 67, 330 White Lane, LaFollette is charged with driving under influence (DUI) and drivers to exercise due care. (WLAF NEWS PUBLISHED – 07/05/2018-6AM)
